Linsey Maughan
Linsey Maughan is Communications Director of the Civic Federation. She oversees the Civic Federation’s internal and external communications strategy, including all media and public relations in addition to creating and editing content for the Federation’s outreach efforts. She also directs updates of the Civic Federation website and assists in the planning and coordination of the Federation’s special events.
Ms. Maughan previously supported administrative and communications initiatives at the Illinois Institute of Technology, most recently serving in the Office of Marketing and Communications as Content Manager/Writer/Editor, as the communications team lead for Lewis College of Science and Letters, as Managing Editor of the Lewis College alumni magazine, and as Features Editor of the Illinois Tech alumni magazine.
Ms. Maughan began her career as a newspaper reporter covering local government, education and health care in Minnesota and Ohio. She has also previously taught a variety of writing courses at the college level. She co-founded the UN Women USA Chicago Chapter, where she served as President from 2014 to 2018, and now serves on the auxiliary board of StoryStudio Chicago, where she supports event planning and fundraising.
Ms. Maughan holds a BA in English from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Florida, and a Master of Public Administration from University of Illinois Chicago. In her free time she enjoys creative writing, yoga, theatre, and traveling.
